First things first, I’m not affiliated with any of the products named and any hype I give them is of my own opinion, uncompensated. See my Disclaimer for more information.

My life right now, particularly in relation to my career, is in a period of transition. After being laid off I’ve been working on a few different passion projects while considering where life will lead me next. It’s been a minute since I last picked up my tarot deck (my go-to right now for personal readings is Pagan Otherworlds, which you’ll see below) and thought I’d take a second to ask a few questions.

Could I have asked: will I get a stable job?

Sure, but it’s not going to tell me anything I don’t already know. I’m capable of being hired. There’s no reason I won’t get a new job or that I can’t carve out my own stable career. It might not be on my ideal timeline, but there really isn’t any reason why the answer would be a hard and fast no.

The Questions

  1. Where is the best place to turn my attention to meet my financial needs? (card 1)
  2. What is the current trajectory of my career path? (cards 2-4)

The Cards

The answering cards were The Empress, 8 of Swords, 2 of Pentacles, and Knight of Pentacles.

The Empress is positioned above 8 of Swords, 2 of Pentacles and the Knight of Pentacles

The Analysis

For context, I have a few roads before me. One, a self-employment route in a more bureaucratic, white-collar career field, a self-employment route utilizing my education in Community Health Education and my new studies in Herbalism, and/or regular employment, either part-time or full-time.

The Empress in this context indicates to me that my best use of time is focusing on herbalism and health. As the figure of creativity, nature and maternity, herbalism and health are clear associations.

In regards to my trajectory, 8 of Swords speaks of hardship; I’m second-guessing myself unnecessarily and need to keep my wits. The 2 of Pentacles notes a need for balance in the areas of time, energy and money. My path forward, per the Knight of Pentacles, is with hard work.

Overall, this tells me I may need to split my efforts across more than one route. Herbalism and health might need to be a primary focus at this moment, but I shouldn’t neglect the other options before me, either. I may need to juggle multiple employment paths.

The Follow-Up

To follow up, I asked what kind of skills and services do others want to see from me. Again I received The Empress, affirming once more that herbalism and health are an ideal match. The repetition makes me wonder if The Empress will be a recurring theme and focus figure for my career.

My last question to wrap up this card session was what next step I should take. I received The Star, which spoke of being a bridge. Within the imagery, the spiritual realm is represented by the body of water, and the physical realm is the land. Water is being poured from both cups – I must give attention to both.
